Pumpkin Pie Brownies
Pumpkin Companions
What kinds of flavors go well with pumpkin?
Oh the sweet smell of chocolate and pumpkin baking in my oven...at the same time!
I wanted to make something with pumpkin (that is the thing to do at this time of year), but I've already made pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes, and pumpkin cookies. I wanted something different.
Plus I wanted chocolate. How could you ever not want chocolate? Chocolate chips added to pumpkin cookies make them so much better, so why shouldn't any kind of chocolate go well with pumpkin?
So...brownies. And pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie in a brownie! Yes, please!
All I had to do was find a killer brownie recipe, mix up some pumpkin pie filling, and mix them together. I left the water out of the brownie recipe, as the pumpkin adds moisture to the mix, and I don't want my brownies to fall apart completely before they make it to my mouth.

Cook Time
Pumpkin Pie Filling Ingredients
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Brownie Ingredients
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/3 cup flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9x13 pan.
- Mix together the canned pumpkin and spices. Set aside.
- In a medium sauce pan, melt the milk chocolate and dark chocolate chips over the stove. Stir in the melted butter.
- Stir in the sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- Mix 1/2 cup of pumpkin pie filling into the chocolate batter. *Do not over mix; leave some of the pumpkin not completely mixed into the batter. When you bake them, there will be areas of pumpkin pie hidden in the pumpkin flavored brownies.*
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking soda. Add the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture.
- Pour batter into greased pan and spread out with a rubber spatula.
- Bake in the oven at 350 F for 35-40 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before eating.
